Organization

Bringing a Greenway into reality is a huge undertaking with many committed players.  For decades people have appreciated the advantages of a greenway on the Northern Corridor of CSX’s rail line North of Englewood.  Mayors and prominent community leaders attempted to start negotiations, to no avail. The Tenafly Rotary Club called (for 8 months) and eventually connected with the appropriate people at CSX.  This was undoubtedly helped by the publicity push of Philliou Eagle Scout Project, inspired by a fatal bike traffic accident.  This effort grew into a massive effort involving the towns, community volunteers, County officials, NJDOT,  NYDOT, and innumerable trail organizations that provided immense support.  This gives an idea of the scope of people working together to make the greenway happen:
